TICA Asia Regional Cat Show 2012 Spring "1st day"

昨日、今日とTICAアジアのリージョナル・ショーが東京の浜松町で開催されました。

わが家からは、シンディと新たにキツンクラスにデビューする武士道（仮名JJ)が参加しました。

浜松町の会場には、6年位前にショーを見に行ったことがあります。

メインクーンと暮らしたいと思い立って、ブリーダーさん探しに行ったのですが、当時はショーがどういうものかもわかっておらず、ましてや同じ会場に今度は参加する側で来ることにあるとは！


Last Sat. and Sun. were TICA Asia Region Cat Show.

It was held in Hamatsu-cho, Tokyo which we have visited about 6 years ago when we were looking for a MC breeder to have our own MC.
The place is located about 3.3km far from Tokyo Tower and is in the mid. Part of Tokyo.

This time we took Cindy and Bushido
For Bushido, this was his debut show.
He was registered to the kitten class and we were expecting his photo session also.

Bushido is now 5 months old and is about 4.8kg.
He is a Brown/Black Classic Tabby boy and I personally was excited about his debut.

今回のショーにはアメリカのメイン州からジャッジのフランシーヌ・ヒックス女史が来日。
わたしは、通訳／クラークのお手伝いをさせていただきました。
ジャッジ台の横でクラークをしながらショーを見るのは、出陳者として正面から審査を見るのとはまた違った醍醐味があります。
ジャッジの目線により近い分、そのジャッジが何を見ているのか、何をしようとしているのか、あるいは一頭一頭に話かける言葉が聞ける楽しみがあります。
なにせ、ジャッジ台の上で行われる審査は、ジャッジとその時に審査を受けている猫との一人と一匹だけの世界で、それを脇から覗いているわけですから、楽しくないはずはないのです。

会場はいつもと違う場所でモノレールゆりかもめの竹芝駅から徒歩2分ほど。
東京貿易センター浜松町館2Fで、会場入り口側はガラス貼り。
光がしっかり入るので、閉塞感を感じない場所でした。
通路にも余裕があり、動きやすい空間設定がされていました。

今回は、一日7リング、二日で計14リング。
参加頭数は100頭超。
わたしは、アメリカから来日したフランシーヌ・ヒックス ジャッジのリングに通訳兼クラークでお手伝いに入りました。
クラークはもう一名、北見さんがいてくださり、心強い限りでした。
午前中はわが家のシンディと武士道の審査風景を間近で見ることは出来ませんでしたが、そのかわりヒックス女史の審査を通してみることができ、これはまた自分にとっては勉強になりました。

いろいろ書き出すと長くなるので、特に印象に残ったことを一点。

それは、審査台での猫の遊ばせ方。
右手で猫じゃらしを振るわけなのですが、残った左手はというと・・・
左手は軽く猫の尻尾を触っている。
つまりは、遊びに夢中になって、机の上から跳び出さないようにしている。
一種の予防策だと思うのですが、尻尾の長い子に関しては定番の行動でした。

For this time, Francine Hicks Judge came from Maine, US.
I was lucky to be with her as a clerk and translator for her.
It is really exciting to see what is going on at the judging table.
Of course it is interesting seeing from the very front, but to me to hear the conversation between the judge and the cat.
Also you can feel what the judges are trying to find, feel and figure out.
I did not have a chance to see Cindy and Buhshido's ring, but enjoyed Francine's ring.

There are so many things that I would like to write about her style but will be too long.

Would like to write one thing.
It's about how she let the cats play on the table.
She holds the teaser in right hand. This is a usual style for judges. The different thing is she holds their tails gently with her left hand. Like putting the hand of the car gear.
I felt that by this she is controlling the cats and avoiding the cats from the danger situation whenever they get wild with the teaser.
With long or middle tailed cats she was doing this as her standard.

小さなことかも知れませんが、リングに付いていて、こういう発見をするのは楽しいことです。

こういう発見は、来日したジャッジに限らず、いつも審査していただいている日本人ジャッジでも同じです。
要は、正面からギャラリーとして見る者と、テーブルの横にくっついて見るものでは見えるものが違うという話。
例えれば、クラシック・バレエを舞台の袖から眺めている感じとでも言えばよいのでしょうか？
毛の触り方、骨格の確認、筋肉の発達具合のチェック・・・
審査方法の内容は同じなのですが、ジャッジが最後に猫から手を離す瞬間の優美さはジャッジそれぞれで違います。
今回のショーでも、舞台袖からの審査風景を十二分に堪能させていただきました。

審査台の上で、少し緊張している猫がいると、足の具合をチェックするために立たせた後、そのまま少し一人と一匹でダンスを踊る姿もヒックス女史の一面をあらわしていたと思います。

猫達が小さくステップを刻む姿はまるで、小さな子供が大人と初めてのダンスを踊っているような光景でした。　
猫に語り、大きな笑みを浮かべながら。　
わたしにとっては、本当に微笑ましいものでした。 気がつけば一緒に踊っている猫達は彼女に体を預けている子も多く。　相手の心にスッっと入っていく魅力あるジャッジさんでした。　

This maybe a small thing but finding out things like this is really a great thing for me.
And this type of discovery, not only for the judges from overseas but the Japanese judges also, is a great fun for me to.
You can always find something new when you are being more closer to the judges.
It is like seeing the classic ballet not from the audience side but from the backstage.

Touching and feeling the bonings, mussels and the coats, they are doing the same thing but everyone has their own style.

When their were a bit nervous cats or kittens, she was dancing with them for a while after she let them stand to check their back legs.
Some were dancing chacha, some danced tango or waltz.

It was like a little boy or a girl learning their first dance from the grown ups.
So gentle and warm with big big smile. And some were even leaning at her. Was a very sweat sweat moment.

さて、わが家のシンディと武士道。　もちろん彼らも同じように審査されたのですが、どのような具合だったのか覚えていないのが正直なところです。
リングの横に付いていると、自分の猫も、他所の猫も関係なくなってしまうようで。　ヒックス女史のリングが終了してから、やっとわが家の二匹の午前の様子を相方に確認しました。　
 まず、シンデイの方は、ファイナルに一回残れたとのことでした。　1月末から九州を除く全てのショーに参加し続けていて、また体の大きな男の子達が満を持して参加してきているのもあり、ファイナルに残るのが難しくなっています。　

Of course or Cindy and Bushi were judged in the same way but to tell the truth I do not remember.
Being by the judges side, there is no meaning who's cat/kitten is who's.
So after the ring was done I asked my husband how they were.
I was told that Cindy won one final.  It is becoming hard for her to win the finals for some beautiful and really big boys are showing these days.

そして、ショーデビューの武士道。　
わが家から、久しぶりのブラウンの登場です。　
前回のショーでデビューしたブラウンのロイ君は、ブラウンでもしろ靴下ばきでした。　メインクーンの原点（？）ともいうべきブラウン/ブラック・タビーのカラーの子はこの日は１頭。　
いったいどんな具合かと見れば、午前4リングのうち、2リングでファイナルに入賞していました。野生的な顔をしてはいるものの、人が大好きで、すぐ喉を鳴らす武士道。　
初めてのショー会場は彼の目にはどう写ったのでしょうか？

And for Bushi...
We haven't shown Black Classic MC's for quite long time.
The Brown boy we brought last time was Roy but he is w/white.
What is said the standard color was Bushido only.
And his result was... he won 2 finals out of 4 ring.
He has a wild looking but has a super personality and loves to purr beside humans.
What was he seeing at his debut show?

控えシェルターのドアを開けたら、元気よく椅子に飛び乗ってきました。抱っこして、耳元で“大好き”とささやいたら、うれしそうに大きな音で盛大に喉を鳴らして応えてくれました。
When I opened the shelter to touch him, he jumped out and when I held him and whispered  "My sweaty" he immediately started to purr!

聞けば、会場で黒いコートをまとった人が目の前の通路を行き来する姿にびびって、その人が通る度に目で追い続けていたとか。
猫と黒い色は相性が悪いのでしょうか？　カラスなどの天敵に繋がる色なのか。
武士道を抱きしめて、「もう大丈夫」と声をかけ、ひとしきり遊んで嫌なことは忘れてしまうことに。

そして、夕方には審査が終了。
シンディはファイナル2本、武士道は3本と哲さん裕子さんによる写真撮影。。
二匹ともそれぞれよく頑張ってくれました。
が、初日はこれで終わらず。

My husband Yasuyuki told me that he was quite nervous seeing a women wearing black coat. When she was walking infront of Bushi, he was chasing her move.
Is kitten does not go well with black color? Dose the color reminds them crow?
I held Bushi tight and told him there is nothing to be afraid of any more and played for a while for him to forget the bad things.

And in the evening all the rings were done.
Cindy got 2 and Bushi got 3 finals and pro shot by Tetsu and Hiroko.
Both did very well, but this was not the end of the day.

人間の方はショー終了後のジャッジ・ディナーに参加。
駐車場が立体式だったため、二匹ともディナー会場でキャリーに入ったままの形で付き合わされてしまいました。

We joined the "Judge Dinner", so Cindy and Bushi had to wait 3 hours more in the carry to go back to their sweet home.

おまけ：
ヒックス・ジャッジがアメリカからわざわざ持って来て下さって猫模様ののクッキー。
とても、おいしかったです！
