TICA & ECC 80th Cat Show

6月16日、17日の週末は、アインシュタインを連れて長野で開催されたTICA&ECCの第80回のショーに行ってきました。

温泉旅館宿泊付一泊二日のショーということで、ショーより温泉目当ての参加という、下心一杯での参加。

初めて行く場所ということもあり、朝の5:30に出発。

車などの移動に弱いアインは、今回も犬用パーカーを着て車に乗り込みました。

関越を気持ちよく走り、到着先の駐車場で結構寝れそうな雰囲気でした。

が、横井田妙技に差し掛かるあたりで事故のため通行止めということで、関越を降ろされてしまいました。

そこからが大変で、軽井沢に抜ける旧道と思われる山道を抜けるはめに。

勝手知ったる場所に居る時にはあまり頼らないカーナビに頼るしかなく、やたらカーブの多いクネクネ道を果てしなく走った感じでした。　おまけに雨模様の空のために、山道は霞がかかって対向車はもちろん道は見えないし、猫を乗せているはで、かなりくたびれてしまいました。

予定より1時間ほど長く運転して、会場に到着。

そばのコンビニで朝食を調達し、後部座席のテントを開けアインを自由にすることにしました。

6月9日のショーに参加した時には、駐車場に付いてから車をとめテントを開け放した時には、移動に疲れたのか、背中を向けテントからは出てこなかったアイン。

今回は前回の3倍ほどの長いドライブ。

同じように篭った状態かと思いきや、確かな足取りで出てきて、狭い車内を探索していました！
ひとしきり車内をチェックした後、運転席のわたしの上に”ドカリ”と座り、満足そうに喉を鳴らしていました（笑）

結構な山道を走ったのに、以外とケロリとしてくつろいでいるアイン。　狭い車内で甘えて来てくれる姿勢に彼との仲が以前よりも密になった気がして、もうこれだけでも長野に来た甲斐があったなと。

今回の遠征要員は、アインと、相方と私だけ。
アインにとっては人間を完全に独り占めできる初めての時間でした。

また人間の方としても、アインだけを見ることのできる貴重な一泊二日となりました。

ショー会場は広く、チャンピオン、キツンとアルターのみの参加。

東京でのショーでもあう方々が半分、長野ならではの参加の方々が半分という感じの割合。

レディースとメンズ（？）のコングレス（相方は“男祭り”と呼んでおりました！）が1回ずつ、二日間で総計16リング。

アインと同じチャンピオンクラスのMCは3頭のみで、1頭は昨年度シンディが出ていた時に一緒だったミルクティー君のお家のロイ君でした。

近くに山がそびえ、反対側は上田の町が見下ろせる会場。

山の景色が気に入ったのか、アインは今回が一番のびのびしていました。

前回のショーでは、10リング中1リングしかファイナルに残れず、リングでも興味なさそうに審査を受けていたアイン。
わが家に来る前に参加し最後のショーは2月。　3ヶ月近くも間が空いてしまい、飽きてしまったのならもうショーを終わりにしてもいいのかな、とも考えていました。

高速道路の事故のため、参加者が遅れているということで、ショーは予定時刻より遅れて始まりました。

最初のリングは貝塚ジャッジのリング。　
アインはそこでBOB一番を頂戴しました。

よく伸ばしていただき（「やはりこんなに長いのだ！」）、かつジャッジ台でも立ち上がってくれ、家で見せてくれる彼の良さが伝わってくる気がしました。

初日にアインが参加した審査は7リング。　初日は、合計4つのファイナルに残ることが出来ました。

前回のやる気の無さは影を潜め、今回は楽しそうに見えました。
会場の方達が何名かがアインの顔を見に来てくださったのか良かったようです。
アインは声をかけられたり、撫でられるのも好きだとアインの実家のスーザンから聞いていたのですが、長野でも同じことがあったのが、活力になったのかもしれません。
ワイルドな顔をした外見とは違い、すこぶる穏やかで紳士的な彼ならではの一こまでした。

初日のショーが終わり、いよいよ宿舎に移動。
もう峠道で疲れ果てていたので、マイクロバスに乗り込み景色を楽しむことにしました。
アインもこの40分ほどの移動に関しては大丈夫だったようです。

無事に温泉旅館に到着、アインは始めての日本家屋に何を感じたのでしょうか？

部屋に入り、アインのテントを設営。　
設営する間、肉球に触る畳の感触を確かめていたのが印象的でした。　
初めての場所でも、まったく萎縮することなく、いつもの調子でのんびりしてくれている彼の姿を見て、あらためて彼が最高の相棒の一匹だと感じました。

夕飯は大広間で全員集合、服部ジャッジの乾杯で始まり、賑やかな宴へと発展。
力いっぱい食べたら眠くなってしまい、20:00頃部屋に戻りました。
行く前には、夜更かしして温泉三昧をして、などと夢想していたことは全部実行せずに朝まで爆睡。
おかげさまで早起きをすることができ、朝の5時頃から大浴場を貸しきり状態で使うことができました。

静かな環境の中、アインもよく休めたようで、わが家に居る時のようにご機嫌な調子でした。

二日目のショーは予定通り始まりましたが、審査の結果は昨日とは逆転。
BOB2ndが続き、中々ファイナルに残れそうな雰囲気はありませんでした。
それでも、長く伸ばされるアインの姿に感動し（親バカです！）、また伸ばされることに抵抗しないアインの素直さにもうれしさを感じていました。

午後になり、風向きが多少変わったようで、2日目の男子コングレスを含む7リングが終わった時には3つのファイナルに残っていました。

アインはアメリカでTGCのタイトルを獲得、日本に来て前回のGCUのショーでQGCのタイトルを獲得（本日やっと、点数を計算しました）しました。

最高位のSGCの資格を得るにはファイナルでベストを1本。

しかし、この最後の一本が中々難しく、わが家のアルフォンスやラファエルは結局縁がないままに終わりました。
そして、最後のファイナルが残っていたリング。
ファイナルに残れたことで十分、また機会が巡ってくればと思いながらアインを控えケージに入れてジャッジ台の前の閲覧席に座り。

次々に発表される順位。　妙な期待はしていないつもりだったのですが、やはり胃が痛くなる瞬間でした。　10位からスタートして残すところ上位5位となってくると、胃だけではなく心臓まで痛い気がしてきました。

残すところベスト3の時には、「期待するな！」コールが頭の中でがんがん響き、いよいよ2ndとベストの発表の時には、耳を塞ぎたい衝動に（爆）。

そして・・・　アインは友成ジャッジのリングでベストを頂戴しました。　　　　　　　本当にうれしい瞬間でした。

うれしいのと興奮で、Bestと印刷されたシールがロゼットにまっすぐに貼れないほどでした。

初めての長野の地は、いっぱいの思い出を残す場所となりました。

ショー関係者の方、旅館の方々、出陳者の皆様、いろいろな形で出会った方々、本当にありがとうございました。
アインと素晴らしい思い出を作ることができました！
ショーの一回一回がその時に参加した猫達との濃い思い出でいっぱいです。

アインの素晴らしさは、外側から見える部分だけではなく、その性格の穏やかさにもあり、父猫として別の形でも活躍しくれることを願っています。


On May 16 and 17th, TICA & ECC 80th Cat Show was held in Nakano prefecture. about 3 hours far from Tokyo.
The interesting part was not only about the show but also the Onsen (Hot spring) at the Japanese hotel where the exibitor is to stay.

As the sound of "Onsen" was so attractive I was looking forward going out for this short trip.

Ein who is not so good with moving wore a parker designed for dogs again and we left our home at 05:30.

Weather was cloudy and was not so good but the high way was not clouded and humans enjoyed the driving.
But when we got quite closed to Nagano pref. there was a car accident a head and we had to get off.
We had to go through the old winding road through the mountains.
So many curves to pass and even the road were foggy and almost couldn't see anything.
I had to rely on the navigation which I often doubt and driving became a really stressful thing, especially for Ein.
Ein seemed to be got sick a bit so we decided to stop the car and let the fresh air inside for him.
I do not know what Ein smelled through the misty air, he looked happy and even tried to escape from the car.
May be he smelled something that he knows really well, a smell which loved to smell from his window in Washington.

In a hour finally we reached the show hall and let Ein free.
This time he smoothly came out from the shelter and started to walk around inside the car.
It was a quite surprise to see him wondering for he never came out by himself before! May be the misty air refreshed him a lot.

After than he came to sit on me and started to purr loudly.
This is what he doed when he is in a good mood and I was happy hearing him purring.
Only 3 of us, Ein, Yasuyuki and me. Now it was the time for Ein to get all he wants!
It looked like Ein also took his beauty sleep well enough.

The 2nd day of the show result seemed totally different from the day before.

But still was fun to see him being stretched longley in a good manner.

He was already a TGC title holder when he came to Japan.
Thanks to Susan and Blair taking him to the show in US.

And he became QGC at his second show in Japan.

All left for him was to win the "BEST" to become SGC which is sometimes very hard to reach.

In the past our Alphonse and Raphael had to give up challenging this.

Combination of the standard, competitors, guts, luck and etc. maybe.
At the very last ring, he was chosen BOB 1st!
Final began and we saw his number.
We sat in front of the ring and watched the final...

There he won the AB Best!!!

Was one of the happiest moments!

Thanks to all the people who were involved with the show.
Thanks to the staff of the "Izumiya Ryokan" and others Ein and us has met.
We had a wonderful time in Nagano.

Thanks to all the ones waited for us at our home and sorry to the ones who were missing us.

Thinking back, Ein came to Japan on 28th of May.

Was only 3.5 weeks since then.
May be should have waited a bit more for him to settle down.

Just watching the calendar I was thinking like this but once I saw Ein himself,
he looked like he was with us for long time.
He became well with other boys and alters.
Of course hasn't yet met girls, but may be in a short time he will.

Talks a lot and always come beside whenever we call him.
It seems he understands English more than Japanese. lol
Love to play a lot, especially he likes to aim and hunt the teaser from the corner of the room or the bed!

Pro Shot of TICA CH Kappa & TICA CH Reebok

先日ショーデビューした、カッパ（正式名：POPOKILANI Kelly）とリーボック(POPOKILANI Rebecca)のプロショットが出来てきたのでアップします。

ショーに出るためにシャンプーしたぶん、家にいる時とは随分雰囲気が違います。

二匹とも十分に毛量があり、トービーの赤色の部分が鮮やかで、雰囲気がかなり華やかになっている気がします。

The photos of aka Kappa (POPOKILANI Kelly) and aka Reebok (POPOKILANI Rebecca).

カッパは、リーボックと比べると小顔で、体重も軽い感があります。

クラシックタビーの渦の中心に赤系の色が配置されていて、コートに独特の雰囲気があります。
Comparing to Reebok, Kappa’s head size is small and is also weigh light.
She has red color on her head like her 3rd eye and also in the center of her tabby circle too. It is so easy to identify which one is Kappa. She has a quite unique pattern.

リーボックは、女の子としては全体に大柄で、顔も大きめ。
カッパよりも赤色の部分が多く、おばあちゃんのスカーレットに似ています。

Reebok is a big girl and has a big head. Looks like her grand mother Scarlett.

二匹ともキツン部門に参加したとはいえ、この写真を福田さんに撮っていただいた時点ですでに生後7ヶ月。

また機会があれば成猫になった時に再度写真を撮っていただこうかと思っています。
ただ、その前にリーボックはママになる気配が濃厚。

体が大きい分、成長も早いようです。
彼女は穏やかな性格なので、わが家でいいママになってくれそうです。

ただ、われわれが8月、9月とバタバタしているので、ママになるのはその後の予定。
可愛い子猫達の誕生が楽しみです。

The two were already 7 months old when these photo was taken but we would like to seek fro another chance to have there grown-up photos.

Rebecca will become mother by this autumn.

As she is a really mature character, I believe she will become a good mother.
Hope to see her kittens, between Ein.

カッパは、タイミングを見ながら、もう少しだけショーに参加してもらおうかと思っています。

前回は結構ショーを楽しんでいた様子。

次回はチャンピオンシップ。　大きな男子に混じって、どこまで自分をアピールしてくれるのか。
For Kappa, we are planning to take her to some more shows.
Now she has to attend the Championship, so we are not sure how far she can go but will see.

Hope she likes to attend the shows.

Happy Birthday to the "7" / 七匹兄弟姉妹お誕生日おめでとう！

2011年にスカーレットとアルフォンスの間に生まれた7匹兄弟姉妹、本日無事に一歳の誕生日を迎えました。
それぞれ、東京、滋賀とバラバラに巣立って行きました。

上の写真の右端は７匹の兄弟姉妹の上に君臨していたシンディです。
何故か写真というと“特別参加”で混じって写りたがっていました。

この写真はジェフです。
彼は、わが家でしばらくショーに出てから、兄弟のポッケ君の居るお家に今年の4月に引っ越して行きました。

ママのスカーレットの子育てが素晴らしく、人間が手伝うこと無く皆元気に成長してくれました。

お誕生日おめでとう！

いつまでも、幸せに！

TICA & CPP 13th Cat Show

4月末で2011-2012年度のキャットショーも終わったと思ったら、もう本年度のシーズが始まってしまいました。

アメリカにアインシュタインを迎えに行き、日本に戻ったのが5/28の月曜日。

アインには、われわれの寝室でゆっくり過ごしてもらっていたのですが、若い分彼もすぐに退屈してしまったようで
急遽本年度第一回目のCPPのショーに参加してもらいました。

もともと、CPPのショーには、わが家の武士道や魅人君、フレイヤちゃんの姉妹であるリーボックとカッパの記念写真を撮るために参加予定でした。

キツン二匹なので、アインが加わってもどうにかなるだろうと。
ところが、ショーの前日のシャンプー時、リーボック、カッパと順調にシャンプー（？）をし終わりアインを洗って居いる最中にくぐもった悲鳴が！

アインに何事か!?!!!、と思いきや、えんどうがぎっくり腰を再発し・・・
急遽シャンプー担当交代となりました。
もちろん、シャンプー後のドライヤーも私一人で行うこととなりましたが、幸いアインはアメリカの実家で既に綺麗にしてもらっていたので意外なほどにあっさりと終わりました。

むしろ手こずったのは、女子組み。
こちらは初めてのシャンプーとドライヤーに抵抗したり、ビクビクしたり。

ともあれ、どうにかこうにか3匹を仕上げてショー前日は終わりました。

By the end of April, TICA 2011-2012 has ended, and already the new season has begun.

It was a really busy beginning.
We made a short trip to US and came back with Cascade Mtn. Einstein on May 28th.
Ein was spending few days in our bed room but as he is still young enough, he seemed to get boring.
So we decided to take him to the CPP Show.

Originally we were thinking of taking 2 girs, Reebok and Kappa, to have a pro shot of them.
The litter mates of Bushido.

Adding Ein won't be so tough was what we were thinking but...
We started shampooing the girls first and then Ein.
When Yasuyuki was washing Ein, I suddenly heard a scream!
Rushing to the bath room and what I saw was...  Yasuyuki on the floor hands and knees!
He strained his back again and could not move. Ein was standing near by him with some bubbles left on his coat.
I took Yasuyui out of the bathroom and started to finish Ein's shampoo and next did the dryer.
Was lucky that Ein was OK with the dryer. He was really good boy during that.

ショー当日は、具合の悪いえんどうを車に押し込んで、予定時刻を30分ほど過ぎて出発。 
日曜日は、路上パーキングが無料の日なのですが、遅く出た分到着時には全ていっぱい！
仕方なく、有料駐車場に車を停め猫達を会場へ。

4月の最後のショーで挨拶をした面々、本当に久しぶりに会う方、いろいろな方達に挨拶しながら控えケージを設営。
アメリカでショー経験があるとはいえ、日本のショーはアインにとっても初めての経験。
アインも、女子二匹もそれぞれ、いつもと違う雰囲気に多少びっくりした感じでした。

受け付けでカタログを頂戴して早速メインクーンの数をチェック。

チャンピオンクラスはMC4頭、全部で35頭の出陳数。
で、キツンクラスを見てびっくり！
MCのキツンは何と13頭!!!

Next day, I pushed Yasuyuki in the car, even he was still having the pain, he could be some kind of a help for me and the 3 cats.
We left about half hour late so could not find the free parking lot near the hall.
Everything was not in a good mood except the cats. lol

At the show hall, many greetings were hopping around. Some faces were the ones I saw just a few weeks ago, some were the one's I have not seen for a quite a while.
Even being showed in US, it seemed that Ein was seeing so many black hairs.

Receiving the  show catalog and checking the  numbers of the MC was a big surprise.
There were 13 MC kittens names on the catalog!
13 MC kittens was a quite big group and seemed a less chance for our girls to win the final.

まあ、時期からしても当然といえば当然なのですが・・・
4月の年度終わりの時とはまったく違った様相。
写真さえ無事に撮れれば、後はもういいかなという状態でした。

人間二人の猫3匹。
といっても、人間は一人はぎっくり腰。
で、もう一人は元気だったかというと、実は肋間神経痛をわずらってしまっており、私自身も半人前の状態でした。
こんな状況では、猫達のリングの往復が精一杯で出陳も知り合いの方に手伝っていただく始末。

Well considering the timing, there is no wonder of 13 kittens attending.
"To have a nice pro shot session successfully was the purpose of attending so let's no worry!"  I was talking to myself.

記念すべきデビュー戦でしたが、いつもほど写真を撮れませんでした。

さて、途中経過もろもろを端折って、一気に結果報告です。
この日のリング数は全部で8リング。

チャンピオンクラスに参加したアインは、やはりまだお疲れモードでしたが、3つのファイナルに残ることができました。
少しづつでもショーに慣れて、彼の持ち味をアピールしてくれれば最高です！

It was the debut show for them but could not take so much photo as usual.

Let me omit the progress and move to the conclusion of their ring!

Total ring numbers were 8:

Ein won 3 out of 8 even he was not in a 100% mode.
Well done and for the next time hope him to become used to the black hair people and show all the beauty he has!

キツン組みの女の子達。
リーボックは、2つのファイナルに残りました。
彼女は、月齢7ヶ月の女の子にしては体が大きい、ブラウントービーの綺麗なコートの持ち主です。

And about the girls, aka Reebok (Rebecka) won 2 finals. She is a brown torbie girl and has a big body as a 7 months old girl.

カッパは、リーボックよりは小柄、それでも月齢からすれば十分平均的な大きさの女の子という評価でした。
このカッパが意外な展開を見せてくれました。

aka Kappa (Kelly) is a bit small comparing to Reebok, but has enough body as a 7 months old girl.
She was the big topic of this time's show to us!

彼女はもともと好奇心旺盛な子なのですが、初めてのショーにも臆することなく、かなり堂々と自分を見せていました。
何となく、ショーデビューをした頃のシンディを思い出させてくれました。
その甲斐あってか、何と6リングでファイナルに残り、SPとABでそれぞれ1本づつのベストまで頂戴しました！
記念すべきは、服部ジャッジにABでベストを戴いたこと！
これはシンディでもなし得なかった快挙です！

Kappa is a girl full of curiosity. She was enjoying her very first show.
She reminded us of Cindy's first show.
May be because of he enjoying, she won 6 finals including one SP Best and one AB Best!
AB Best was given by Judge Hattori!  

今回は、ファイナル1回に付きロゼッタ一本。
気がつけば3匹分のロゼッタで控えケージは華やかになっていました。

This time's show, rosetta was prepared for each ring and finally there were bunch of rosettas hanging out from our cage.

女優シンディに続く、あらたな後継者の誕生か!?
でも、カッパももう満8ヶ月になってしまいました。
次のショーはチャンピオンシップ・クラス。
アインや並み居る大柄の男の子達と一緒の審査を受けます。
カッパの次のステージはいつになることやら。

ショーにはいつも"びっくり"が潜んでいるようです。
きっと、新たな発見やサプライズがあるから参加し続けてしまうのだと思います。

次回のショーの予定はアインを連れてのGCU。
アインの本領が発揮できるような素晴らしい場になることを今から願っています。

Another new face born to follow Cindy?
Kappa is now 8 months old and her next show, she has to attend the Championship.
Ein and other big boys are waiting there.
We are not sure when to show her next.

There is always "something" waiting at the show.
And this must be the reason why we can not stop showing our members.

The next show is "Global Cat Union" show.
We are planing to take only Ein and hoping him to show all he has.

Popokilani is still on-going.

今日TICAの2011-2012年度の正式なキャットショーの成績が発表され、わが家のシンシアことシンディがアジアの全猫種部門の第10位にランクインしました。

また、メインクーンとしては、アジアで2番目となりました。

成猫部門のメインクーンの女の子としては、快挙を成し遂げてくれたと思います。

そこで、シンディの成長を写真で簡単に振り返ってみたいと思います。

Today, TICA 2011-2012 Award results was issued and Cynthia became Regional winner.
She is the All Bread 10th Cat and the 2nd Best MC in Asia Region.

As a female, she did very well in Championship.

I would like to upload some photos to see how she has developed herself. 

生後３ヶ月。　生意気にポーズの取りかただけは一人前でした（笑）
Even at the age of 3 months, she new how to strike a pause. lol

この写真は、シンディが生後6ヶ月で、キツンクラスにデビューした時の物。
キツンクラスは、これが最初で最後のショーでした。
コートは短めで、目がやたらに目立ち、正直どんな大人になるのか・・・予想もつきませんでした。
The upper photo was taken by Tetsu during her Show debut to the kitten class at 6 months old.
This was her first and last show as a kitten.
Not much coat and I was not sure how she shall be...

生後8ヶ月になった2012年1月末にチャンピオンクラスにデビュー。
見事に大人の風格を漂わせています。
この時から３ヶ月、九州、名古屋を除くショーに11回連続で参加。
体調を壊すこと無く、女優魂全開で自分を見せてくれました。

After becoming 8 months old, she made a debut at the Champion class.
Now she turned to a real beauty.
From then, she attended 11 Shows held around in Kanto area.
She was healthy all the time and showed enough of what she has.

母親のコピーと言われるほど、あるいは一卵性親子と思えるほどそっくりな二匹。
シンディはウェンディの一粒種として、母親と毎日戦いながら育ちました。

This is Cindy with her mom Wendy.
Cindy looked like a clone of her mother or some times was said "Twins".
Cindy was a singleton of Wendy and they were always fighting from her baby's age.

3週間後に生まれた従妹と一緒のシンディ。
この頃は、よく従兄弟達をおもちゃがわりにやんちゃのし放題でした。

Cindy with her 3 weeks younger cousin.
She used to chase and did rough things to the young ones.

７匹の従兄弟達は、シンディの子分のような存在。
悪悪シンディと影で呼ばれてもいた時代です。

Her 7 little cousins were called "Cindy's pupil".
She was really a devil to them, I guess. lol

生まれた時はこんなに小さかったシンディ。
気が付けば生後一歳。

Tiny Cindy now is a year old lady.

立派な大人の女性に成長していました。

Now she is old enough to be called a lady.

ショーを楽しんでいたとは言え、よく頑張ってくれました。
お疲れさま、シンディ！

You did it very well, even you ere enjoying the Show.

How we met and welcomed Einstein / アインとの出会いからお迎えまで

以前にも書いたかもしれませんが、アインシュタインは夢のような縁がもとで出会うことのできたメインクーンでした。
「ブリーダーとして、いつかチャンスがあれば海外からも猫を迎え入れたい・・・」
そんな漠然とした夢が、早い時期に現実のものになるとは、正直考えていませんでした。


May be I have written this similar things before but would like to repeat how we met and welcomed CASCADE Mtn. Einstein.
“As a breeder, if there is a chance, would like to have Maine Coon kittens from overseas…” was one of our dreams.

Moreover, I never thought of this happen so quickly.

そのご縁となったのは、確かこの写真でした。

これは、昨年私がフェイス・ブックにアップしたレッド・クラシック・タビーのヴィクターの写真です。
この一枚の写真がアインと出会うきっかけとなりました。



ある日、ヴィクターの写真にアメリカからコメントが付きました。
コメントの主を見たら、アメリカのメインクーン・ブリーダー、ケミクーンズのリズ・ハンセンでした。
リズの猫達については、そのショーでの活躍ぶりをTICA本部のサイトで見たりしていたので知ってはいました。
が、アメリカのブリーダーがコメントをくれることがある・・・まったく晴天の霹靂でした。
いろいろなやり取りをするうちに、話が海外の他所のキャッテリーに及びました。

どこのキャッテリーの猫に興味があるかという話から、実は2年ほど前からベルギーのキャッテリーにコンタクトしていることを伝えました。
相手は、Tealc、IndiというIWになった男の子キャッテリーだと。
待っている順番は、アメリカのキャッテリーとベルギーの次であり、しかし、中々彼らの後腹が生まれず、待っているということも。

リズから返ってきた返事は驚くべきものでした。
実は彼女も、そのキャッテリー、Pajocoonsの子を待っているとのことでした。
アメリカのキャッテリーとは、リズの持つChemicoonsのことだったのです。
世の中は本当に狭い！
そんなご縁や、ブリードに対する方向性の一致もありFB上とはいえ、実に有意義なやり取りをさせていただくことになりました。



And I think this photo was the very one which led us.
This is one of the photos, which I uploaded on the Facebook.  A photo of our Red Classic Tabby Boy “Victor”.
This was the very thing, which finally tied us to Einstein.
One day a comment was been added to this photo.
It was written by a US Maine Coon breeder, Liz H. of CHEMICOONS
I knew her name and her cattery through TICA and her own website.
A breeder who bread Female International winner and many other winners in both IW and RW.

I was so surprised to have a comment from her about our boy.
We exchanged message a lot and happened to write about our future plan.
I wrote about I am expecting a boy from PAJOCOONS but still waiting for the offspring to be born.
Her reply to my message was really a surprise.
She wrote me that she was also waiting for a boy to be born!
The one who is on the waiting list of PAJOCOONS was her!!!
I think this coincidence led me to become closer to her.
One day she informed me that her friend has now available kittens that she thinks high quality.

わが家の現在のメンバーの話ももちろん出ました。
今後の方向性の中で、実は男の子が一匹ではなく二匹必要だと感じていることも。
ただ、次世代を担うメンバーになるため、急がず、慎重に考えていることも伝えました。
そんなやり取りをしている中、「ちょうど親しい友人のキャッテリーで子猫が産まれているが興味はあるか、あれば話を繋ぐが？」とリズが具体的な話を持ってきてくれたのです。
ちょうど、そこのキャッテリーにも行くので、先方に話してみて、また子猫達も見てきてくれると。

そこからは、話がとんとん拍子に進んでいきました。
リズが訪問している間に、先方との話が進んだとのことで、またFBを通して進捗状況をすべて教えてくれました。
それは、まるで実況中継のようでもありました。去年の7月の頃のことした。
相手のキャッテリーの名前は、カスケード・マウンテン。
場所はワシントン州の郊外で、わたしが子供の頃住んでいたオレゴン州のポートランドからたった20分ほどの所に位置していました。
私にとっては偶然がいくつも重なってくれたとしか思えませんでした。
チャンスである以上に、この重なりはもう大げさに言えば運命の導きのような感じでした。
自分の感覚に従い、気が付けば素直に流れに乗っていました。

She told me that if I am interested she could connect me to them.
I told her that we are looking for 2 boys now and one will be PAJOCOONS and another could be the her friend cattery boy. She told me that she has a plan to visit so she can meet the boys too.
Suddenly this big chance started to move quickly.
She updated me during her visit through FB. (Thanks to the IT technology!) This was happening on 2011 summer.

The cattery name was CASCADE Mtn.
CASCADE Mtn. Cattery is located in Washington, only about 10-15 min. ride from Portland airport. It is also close to the place where I lived in my childhood too.

This was more than a chance, may be a fate!?
Already I was not thinking, just decided to follow this stream.
This brown boy’s photo is one of the photos which Susan M. has sent me.

母猫がブラウン、父猫がブラック・ソリッド。
わたしの目を強く惹いたのが、色の濃いブラウン・クラシック・タビーの男の子でした。
この子が、後にアインシュタインと命名され、今わたしの横に居てくれている子です。

アインの兄弟姉妹はどの子たちも力強く、大変きれいな横顔をした子達でした。
後は、わたしたちが思う子を、男の子でも女の子でも日本に出してくれると。
日本の検疫条件を満たして海外から猫を迎えるには、約300日ほどかかります。
生後11ヶ月前後まで猫を預かってくださるブリーダーを探すのは中々難しいのが現状です。
まして、実際にあったこともないのに、本当にありがたいお話です。
早速、わが家の隅から隅までを写真に取り、スーザンに送りました。


His dam is brown and sire is the black solid.
My eyes were caught-up with the dark brown colored boy.
This is the very young photo of the boy whose name is now Einstein.
Einstein’s littermates were all strong looking and had a beautiful profile.
We were told that we can choose by ourselves.

To meet the Japanese quarantine rule, it takes about 300 days.
It is quite difficult to find a cattery who agrees this condition.
And as a matter of fact Susan and Blair of CASCADE Mtn. never met us.
I took bunch of pictures of our home, and sent it to Susan and Blair.

そしてスーザンとブレヤにこの子猫がやがて日本に来てくれるのなら、われわれがお迎えに行くと伝えました。可能であれば飛行機の客室に乗せてと。

数えきれないほどのやり取りをし、またアインの写真をことあるごとに送ってもらう中、話は進んで行きました。

And if we can have their kitten, we shall visit them and hand carry the kitten.
So many emails has been exchanged and so many photo of Ein has been set out from Susan.

振り返って考えれば、アッと言う間だったような気もしますが、時に、夢ではないか、夢なら覚めないで欲しいと思ったことが何回もありました。

Looking back I feel like it was just a glance but I remember that I felt “This must be a dream and if so I do not want to be awaken!”

アインの生まれ育った家

11ヶ月の長期にわたる待機期間を快諾してくれたCASCADE Mtn.のSusan と Blair M. 夫妻に感謝です。
また、このご縁を取り持ってくれたCHEMICOONSのLiz H.にも感謝の意を表します。

アインの名付け親は、仲介の労を取ってくれたLizにお願いしました。
Lizの本業は化学の教授なので、選んでくれた名前はやはり化学つながり。
カスケード・マウンテンのキャッテリー出身で、リズの付けてくれた名前に最後にわが家のキャッテリーネーム。
決して尽きることのない感謝の気持ちを残したく名付け親になってもらった次第です。

迎えに行く日ための飛行機を予約してからは、もうどきどきの日々でした。
初めにシカゴに立ち寄ってリズに会い、それからオレゴン州のポートランドに行ってスーザンとブレアに会う。
われわれの仕事の都合で日程は4泊6日という非常に短いものでした。
日本入国のための検疫審査の書類も完璧に整っており、あとはアイン連れて帰るだけ・・・のはずが。
飛行機会社の突然の規約変更ということで、予定していた帰国便ではアインを客室に連れて入れなくなってしまう、というハプニングが発生。
仕方なく、帰国は二手にわかれ、急遽相方とアインは新たな片道切符を購入。　　　　　成田で待ち合わせることとなりました。


So many thanks to Susan and Blair M.  Thank you for holding Ein for 11 months long.
Also thanks to Liz H. for introducing this wonderful cattery, without you, I never had a chance to meet such a wild looking super “Gentle Giant”.

About this CASCADE Mtn. boy’s naming, we asked Liz to become his God Mother.
Liz is a Chemistry Professor and is a Dr, so she chose the name “Einstein”.
A boy from CASCADE Mtn. Cattery, and to show our appreciation to Liz, now he has the name Einstein!

After we reserved our flight, everyday was so long .
First we stopped at Chicago and met Liz, stayed there for 2 day and then moved to Portland to visit Susan and Blair. 4days 6 nights was a quick trip.

To bring Ein to Japan, all the documents were perfectly prepared and nothing to worry about…
Because of the sudden rule change of the flight company, we were not allowed to bring Ein in to the cabin. So we decided to be separated and Ein and Yasuyuki used other flight and promised to see each other at Naritta Airport.

わたしの方が先に成田に到着。待つこと3時間あまり。
相方とアインも無事に日本に降り立つことができました。
検疫にかかった時間は僅か10分。
ポートランドからの直行便に切り替えた便は、機材トラブルでポートランドの飛行場で2時間半ほど待機したとのことでした。
せまいキャリーの中で飲まず喰わずでガマンし続けたアインがわが家に到着したのは23：00頃。


長い長い旅路もやっと終わりを告げてくれました。

9月にはもう一匹、男の子がわが家に来てくれる予定です。
この二匹の男の子達を迎えることがわれわれの夢でした。

わが家も今年は世代交代の時期です。
新しいメンバーが加わることによりさらに健康で穏やかなメインクーンが誕生してくれることを期待している毎日です。


Long, long journey of his finally reached to an end.

I was the one who arrived first and had to wait for Ein and Yasuyuki for 3 hours.
Medical check for Ein took only 10 min.

The flight they took from Portland had some kind of craft trouble and they had to stick inside the plane for more than 2 hours.
Ein who was locked inside the carry without eating and drinking reached our place around 23:00.


In September, another boy is to join.
Having these 2 boys were our big dream. This year will be the year for new generation.
I hope having Ein let us expand our cattery future!
